The 5th meeting of the thyroid school was held on December 6, 2012 at Kayseri Erciyes University Faculty of Medicine. The opening speech of the meeting was made by Kayseri Erciyes University President Prof. Dr. Fahrettin Keleşimur. The theoretical part of the meeting consisted of interactive case discussions, and Prof. Dr. Engin Ok, Prof. Dr. Gökhan İçöz, Prof. Dr. Yasemin Giles Şenyürek, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Alper Akcan, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Fatih Tunca and Assoc. Prof. Dr. Özer Makay participated as discussants in the theoretical part. Following the theoretical meeting, the total thyroidectomy surgery performed by Prof. Dr. Gökhan İçöz and Assoc. Prof. Dr. Özer Makay was broadcast live from the operating room to the meeting hall. During the surgery, information was shared live about the principles of total thyroidectomy and nerve monitoring.
