The 8th meeting of the Endocrine Surgery Association Thyroid School was held on April 1, 2014 at Zonguldak Bülent Ecevit University. Following the opening speech by Bülent Ecevit University Faculty of Medicine Vice Dean Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nejat Demircan, the meeting included panels on surgical indications for nodular goiter, surgical principles to be applied to reduce thyroidectomy complications, and nerve monitoring. In addition, during the live thyroidectomy surgery broadcast, safe thyroidectomy principles, intraoperative nerve monitoring application technique, and the contribution of nerve monitoring to prevent nerve injuries were shared interactively with the meeting hall. The panels were attended by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Taner Bayraktaroğlu and Prof. Dr. Zuhal Erdem from Bülent Ecevit University Department of Internal Medicine and Department of Radiology, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Güldeniz Karadeniz Çakmak and Assoc. Prof. Dr. Ali Uğur Emre, and Prof. Dr. Yasemin Giles Şenyürek and Assoc. Prof. Dr. Fatih Tunca from the Thyroid School of the Endocrine Surgery Association attended. We would like to thank Assoc. Prof. Dr. Güldeniz Karadeniz Çakmak and Assoc. Prof. Dr. Ali Uğur Emre for their great efforts in organizing the Thyroid School meeting in Zonguldak and for hosting the Thyroid School team with sincere hospitality, all faculty members who participated in the panels, Op.
